From Chrissy's Caregiving to Simpson Family Care: Our Story From 2018

Inviting someone into your home to care for a person you love is a big decision. Before you make it, you deserve to know who we are, where we came from and what we stand for. So here's our story, from a small business called Chrissy's Caregiving to the team we are today at Simpson Family Care.
How it all started
Chrissy spent over 30 years working in care and aged support work, and couldn't believe the number of people who wished they'd remained in their own home, a place of familiarity.
Chrissy's Caregiving began in 2018 with a simple belief: older people deserve to stay in the homes they built, surrounded by the things they own, and with the people they love, for as long as they safely can.
Growing one family at a time
Chrissy never set out to be the biggest care provider, but instead to be the one families trust. Almost all of the growth has come the old-fashioned way: a happy client tells a neighbour, a daughter tells a friend, a GP passes on our number.
One family at a time, our team grew, and today we have over a dozen carers supporting clients from Devonport to Ōrewa.
Why we became Simpson Family Care
Chrissy dedicated her life to looking after her family, friends, staff and clients, and decided it was time to look after herself. After talking to Laura, Chrissy's niece, and Julian, Laura's husband, about an opportunity to carry on the family business, she decided to hand over the reins to the next generation of careful hands to carry on with her life's work, and in 2026 we became Simpson Family Care.
We chose the name Simpson Family Care because it's our name and it represents the strength of our own family. Choosing the word "family" was on purpose. It's how we see our clients, how we treat our staff and how we want every family who calls us to feel.
What hasn't changed
A new name doesn't mean a new way of doing things. The four values Chrissy started with in 2018 are still at the heart of everything we do:
- Dignity, always. Every person we care for is met as an adult with a full life story.
- Respect for independence. We support what people can still do, and gently help with what they can't.
- Honest communication. Clear, kind and consistent updates so families feel included and informed.
- Reliability you can feel. The same trusted faces, on time. Our carers live in and know the communities they work in.
Where we are today
Today Simpson Family Care supports anyone in need across Auckland's Hibiscus Coast from Ōrewa, East Coast Bays and the North Shore down to Devonport. Our services include companionship and wellbeing, daily help and errands, personal care, palliative and 24/7 care.
Looking ahead, our goal is simple: to keep growing carefully, without ever losing the personal touch that got us here. Every new client still gets the same welcome, the same care and the same promise Chrissy made back in 2018.
Thank you
To every client, family member and carer who has been part of our journey since 2018: thank you. You're the reason we're still here, and the reason we love what we do.
If you or someone you love could use a little extra support at home, we'd love to chat. There's no pressure, just a friendly conversation about what would help.
